When I was at collage Adam Sandler came to do his stand up
routine. This was before any of his movies, way before Happy Madison Productions. He was simply that funny guy who just started on Saturday Night Live. Some, like my friends and I remembered him from the short lived Mtv game show Remote Control. Watch an entire episode here because you know you want to. What game show since has snack time, where snacks are literally thrown at contestants? Colin Quinn was also on that show. If you like that sorta thing. So Adam came to the University of Hartford and did his act and it was drop dead funny. The part that sticks out the most in my memory is the very beginning of the show when Adam came out on to the stage he put his gum on the edge of a plastic glass he had on stage and said "save it for later". Then a chick jumps out from the audience and takes the gum! Bet she has it displayed in her house today. "Adam Sandler's gum". She must be very proud. Amazingly enough, and the only act I can remember doing so, he stayed for a couple of hours after the show was over to sign autographs and meet everyone. Later on he was stalked by this girl I knew at the local bars but she got turned down. Of course I was one of the people who stayed after and got an autograph. Until recently these were hanging in back of one of my fish tanks, thus the watermarks. I am going to take better care of these forgotten gems now though and am getting them sealed and framed. Why not. There is only one other person I met before he was super famous and that was O.J. Simpson. Thankfully I brought home no mementos from that meeting.
I also ran across this clip on Youtube and figured, it's Sandler so why not.
