Get your sticks waxed..... it's winter time!

Killington Vermont opened this week. I have to admit that it did not seem  possible for a season a few weeks ago. Summer gets longer every year. Thankfully Fall was short and The big K even got some natural goodness. Here is something we didn't have growing up: Don't believe the mountains weather report?  Has their "20 inches" claim ranked up there in believability with fish tales and your camp counselor's sexcapade stories? Well catching them in a lie is a little bit easier thanks to not one, but two Killington web cams.  Granted there is no ruler and the frame rate sucks but it is a far  cry from trying to guess. It is user controlled and it does show you not only the current weather but enough detail to see if they are making snow, what kind of snow it is (to an extent) and how much traffic there is as far as skiers. Maybe not something to base your trip on at this point but certainly a nice thing to check out before you pack your pack or drive up early for nothing. In the future I hope to see robot measurement arms and snow bunny nipple thermometers. One can dream, one can dream.
